Well this is going to be long and drawn out... so please bear with me. So the saga continues. As I had said in a previous thread, I picked up this 93tt in really good shape from a member here, Jeff (don't know his forum name). A couple days after I got it, the motor dropped a couple cylinders, at times it felt like 3 of them dropped out completely. I only got to drive it for a couple days before all of this happened. Isn't that how it always is? Ha! Here's the car as I received it...

Current mods to it were a Jim Wolf pop charger, HKS bov's, Jim Wolf chipped ecu, 18” G35 wheels, etc... the usual first step stuff. So, I figured what it needed to get back on the road was a set of new style injectors (might as well upgrade CC in case I do a Turbo upgrade later), with new style plug pigtails. Also needed new intercooler hardpipe connectors and clamps, needed new gaskets on the valve covers, as 2 of them are seeping. Figured at the same time I have it off, might as well have some parts powdercoated to fancy it up. Finish it off with a dual MAF system and a new chip burn, and I'd be good to go? Right? Oh wish it were that easy... I read everywhere how pulling this intake off is not the easiest thing in the world, but I wasn't worried. I'm decent with a wrench and have done a lot motor work in the past, but this nissan tt motor is an absolute bitch I must say. So, 3 nights later, a dozen broken hoses, ever plug cracked and broken, and a pile of screws and bolts and parts, I got it to this point...

Alright! No problem! Order up all the hoses and plugs etc that I need from being busted, and I'll be good to go right? So now on to the valve covers. Both on the passenger side were leaking in the rear and dripping right onto the downpipe. Never left a drop on the ground, but I sure could smell it. Very annoying. Of course the intake valve covers come off easy. Then I get to the exhaust covers and the damn things hold on for dear life. Between the EGR crap and the damn side intake mounts, I couldn't get the damn things off. So then I notice the rear main leaking while doing some more nosing around while collecting myself after the anger of getting my ass kicked by a valve cover.... So, let's just call Brett Ramey and let him finish this damn thing... I should have done this from the start. Onto the tow truck to head to Brett's house.
In the meantime, I did get my intake and VC's back from the powder coater, in fresh Laguna Seca Blue and dark metallic charcoal gray. Here they are before reassembly. I'm thinking of doing the wheels of the car in this high gloss charcoal gray, would look pretty good I think.

So, Brett and Tim work insanely fast... faster than I even thought possible. In less then 2 days, they had the motor out, all work done, and put all back together. Decided to go ahead and do a full injection harness to save time and cleanliness under the hood. Half my coil plugs were broken, all the injectors, and the original harness was just in bad shape overall. We deleted the TB coolant lines as well as the egr. Here's some shots of how it looks right now... I think it's damn sexy.

Looks good right? (well maybe you don't like the blue, but at least it's different?) BUT BUT BUT.... Here's the sucky suck part... The new 615 injectors fixed almost all the problems but one... the driver side rear cylinder is damn near dead... well, dead below 2500 rpm or so. It seems to wake up sometimes once you get into it about 3k or above. Either way it's got a serious problem. Compression test was done and 5 cylinders are at 140 psi or above. The questionable one was at 70... Might as well be zero right? I only took it to Brett for the injector install etc, so he never comp tested the motor when it was out, he had no reason to. The top of the motor was disassembled when he received it, so he had no way to do any diagnosis. Live and learn I guess. He only tested once it was back in and realized there was a bad miss. Super suck. So now what? Drive it like it is for a while, or go ahead and have the damn thing pulled out again to have the problem remedied. Haven't pulled the trigger on on anything yet, but I'm leaning towards pulling it back out and at least re-ringing the driver side and having that head worked. But I guess If i'm that far down, I might as well have the passenger side done too, then I know I'm good to go I guess. Suggestions? By the way, super huge props to Brett and his crew... they are great to work with, fair and reasonable, as well as lightning fast.
